Beyond Bridges: Balkans Application
APPLY NOW using our online application system.
Applications are accepted on a ‘rolling’ basis. An application will not be complete without an uploaded and completed signature page as well as two completed recommendation forms. These documents should be uploaded to the online application itself. If you have trouble accessing the recommendation page or signature page, you can download them here and here, respectively.
TWO IMPORTANT NOTES:
(1) Applicants cannot save text field responses, but can only submit the application when completed. As such we encourage applicants to draft and edit text fields in a word processing application, save the file to your computer, then cut and paste your responses into the online application. This will prevent the accidental loss of data.
(2) Make sure to look at the application checklist to be 100% that you have sent us all of the the required forms, which can be accessed here. Without all necessary forms students will not be able to participate in the BBB program.
II. ONCE A STUDENT IS ACCEPTED... (A) COURSE REGISTRATION and (B) DEPOSIT
For students already enrolled at USF - Register for the summer BBB course through Concur.
For students NOT already enrolled at USF - You first need to be “formally accepted” to USF. Though you are only registering for BBB, this program is considered to be a USF summer course. As such, you need to complete the “Visiting Student Application,” which can be accessed here, along with other pertinent info. Non-USF students should call 415.422.6563 or 1.800.CALL.USF regarding the "Visiting Student Application."
Completed USF Visiting Student applications must then be submitted to: Associate Director for Special Admissions; University of San Francisco; 2130 Fulton Street; San Francisco, CA 94117-1080. Visiting Students may need to obtain the signature of the Associate Director for Special Admissions (415.422.2464) on a Registration Add/Drop Form.
In order to register you need to know that the course is formally called "INTD-395-02, "SpTop:Beyond Bridges/Balkans" with CRN#30210.
(B) NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT
After you register you will need to make a payment to the USF One Stop office in tha amount of $500. Please submit a check payable to USF, ask One Stop to apply it toward your account, and instruct One Stop to designate the check as a "Summer 2013 BBB Tuition Pre-payment."
Note that if BBB is cancelled due to low enrollment, this money will be refunded to you. But if USF cancels BBIP due to "natural, political, or violent event or illness," the non-refundable portion of the Program Fee will not be refunded.
As with all USF programs, "The University of San Francisco reserves the right to add, amend, or cancel any of its programs, regulations, rules, or policies, and procedures, in whole or in part, at such time as it may choose and for any reason. None shall be construed as, operate as, of have the effect of an abridgment or limitation of any rights, powers, or privileges of the University of San Francisco."
III. AFTER YOU'VE BEEN ACCEPTED VIA CTE AND HAVE REGISTERED FOR THE COURSE VIA USF...
Contact the BBB Director to give her this status, at which time you will be sent additional forms that need to be completed. A list of all required forms can be found here.
Finally, we strongly encourage students to purchase flights through CTE’s travel agent. If students do not arrive/depart on the specified days and times, they will be responsible for paying additional ground travel and, potentially, accommodation costs, which are not included in the price of the BBIP Program Costs. As we have worked with our travel agency since 2005 we will be able to modify travel plans as opposed to purchases made through Orbitz, Expedia, etc.
We also strongly encourage students to purchase travel insurance to cover the price of the ticket in case the program is canceled (as a result of natural, political or violent event, or illness).
For more information, please refer to the BBB Program Summary - accessed here.
